The programme focuses on providing schools and after-school clubs in Croatia, Denmark, Ireland, Italy and the UK with a wide range of sports equipment and teaching materials. These will enable each school and after-school club to motivate their children to enjoy a greater love for sport, ultimately promoting a fitter lifestyle for all.
Teachers and coaches will also be invited to a 'Train the Trainers' session, designed to demonstrate how to successfully implement the programme into their schools and clubs. Along with Goran Ivanišević, Olympians such as Michael Carruth, the Programme Trainer, will be visiting teachers, coaches and children to spread the sports and wellbeing message.
Samsung's support will provide schools and after-school clubs with a wide variety of sporting equipment from tennis racquets and hockey sticks to footballs and basketballs. By promoting such a wide variety of sports, the programme aims to target all children, regardless of ability - and encourage them to fall in love with the fun of sport.
It is estimated that 112,500 children, ranging in age from 6 to 15 years, will participate in the programme during the first year. The EOC will be managing, coordinating and activating the programmes in the selected markets. They will be distributing the equipment to schools and will be responsible for the training programme.
